Allow guardians to request deregistration

What: The “De-registration Info” setting allows guardians to log in to SpeedAdmin and submit an discontinuation request when they want their child to discontinue a lesson/ensemble. The student is not discontinued when the guardian submits a request, but only when the SuperUser approves the request in the system.

Why: Allowing guardians to submit the discontinuation request themselves ensures that they understand the terms and conditions of discontinuation, you can control which questions they answer in connection with discontinuing and can collect statistics regarding the reasons for stopping.

How:

Follow the below steps to set the discontinuation request feature up:

Step 1: Set up deregistration

  1. Navigate to Settings - Registration - De-registration Info and then check the “Activate de-registration/cancellation for students” box.
  2. Under the “De-registration information” box, enter your conditions for unsubscribing in the text field before clicking “Save”.

  3. On the “Questions upon de-registration” tab you can then add any number of questions you wish parents/guardians to respond to upon discontinuing – this can be used to ask for feedback on their lesson/ensemble, etc.

To add these, click “Create” and:

  •  Enter the question in “Field Name”.
  • Select the “Field Type” for the parent/guardian’s response – there are several options in the drop-down menu, and includes short/long text, number, date and drop-down choices.
  • Choose the “Order” for where the question will appear.
  • Determine the read and write access by selecting all rights groups that should be able to read/write in the field.
  • Select whether it is to be a “Required” question or not (if set to “Required” the parent/guardian must respond before completing the discontinuation request)

4. On the “Discontinue Reason” tab, you can then set any reasons for why they have elected to discontinue.

To add these, click “Create” and:

  1. Enter the reason in “Discontinue Reason”
  2. Decide the order in where it will appear for parents/guardians

If you need to edit any, click the pencil icon, or if you need to remove any, click the three dots at the end of the row for the relevant reason and select either “Delete” or “Deactivate”.
