What is the function?
The new Course Catalogue allows you to display all available courses and bookings in a clear, user-friendly way. Customers can browse the catalogue to find courses, apply for courses, or book directly where places are available.
Why do I need to use it? / Why is it mandatory?
The updated catalogue allows you to customise the page layout, add helpful information for users, and control how courses are filtered and displayed.
The system will no longer support the old form; therefore, this version must be in use by 31st March.
How do I use it? / Activate it?
The new version of the Course Catalogue is now available for all customers and can be enabled through a feature that SpeedAdmin can switch on.
Customising the Course Catalogue Page
The new catalogue allows you to customise the page to make it more informative and engaging for your customers.
Headline and Image
- You can add a headline at the top of the catalogue page with an unlimited character count - this can be used to introduce your course offering or provide your customers with more details
- You can also upload an image to appear at the top of the Course Catalogue page to help. This can help improve the look of the page, provide branding or visual context for users
Important
If either the headline or the image is filled in, a 'Find your course' button will automatically appear.
Using Hotspots
You can add up to three hotspots to the Course Catalogue page.
Each hotspot contains:
- A Headline
- Body text
If the text becomes too long, a ‘Show more’ button will automatically appear to keep the page simple and easy to read.
Creating a ‘hotspot’
Hotspots are useful for guiding customers around the page and highlighting key information, such as:
- Explaining different course types
- Highlighting special programmes or offers
- Providing guidance on how to search or book courses
- Promoting courses for specific age groups or levels
Using hotspots effectively can help customers find the right course more quickly.
To create a ‘hotspots’ enable ‘Edit Mode’ by clicking the button at the top of the page
Click the pencil icon at the bottom ‘hotspot’ to edit the text and type your chosen information.
Course Catalogue Filters
Filters allow users to narrow down course results and find suitable courses more easily.
Filters are automatically displayed based on your system configuration and available data, some of these can be managed in your ‘Settings’.
Available Filters
- ‘School’ - filter will only appear if at least one teaching venue has been set up in the system.
- ‘Subject’- is always visible, based on your Tuition Types / Tuition Areas
*(This filter cannot be disabled)*
- ‘Day’ - displayed only when there are courses available for direct booking
- ‘Birth Year’ - Can be included or excluded in your registration fields.
‘Settings’ + ‘Registration Settings’ + ‘General’ tab
Ability- displayed only if Ability Levels have been created.
‘Settings’ + ‘Course’ + ‘Ability Levels’
- District - displayed only if districts have been set up in the system.
‘Settings’ + ‘School & Term’ + ‘Districts’
Problem Solving
A filter is missing?
If a filter does not appear in the ‘Course Catalogue’, it is usually because the required settings have not been enabled in the system.
Check the relevant system settings rather than the ‘Course Catalogue’ configuration.
Best Practice
To make the most of the Course Catalogue
- Add a clear headline to introduce your courses
- Upload a relevant image to improve the page layout
- Use hotspots to guide customers and highlight important information
- Ensure your system settings are set up correctly, so filters appear as they should
