Creating Attendance Reasons

What are attendance reasons: Attendance reasons are preset explanations used when logging a student’s absence, lateness, or other non-standard attendance. They help categorise and clarify why a student isn’t following their usual schedule.

Why use attendance reasons: Using clear attendance reasons ensures consistency across staff entries and supports accurate reporting. It also helps with safeguarding, compliance, and identifying patterns that may need attention.

How to create attendance reasons:

Step 1: Navigate to Settings/ Booking/ Attendance Reason/ Click Create:

Step 2: Enter a Reason, Sequence, Colour, tick In attendance if the attendance reason means they did attend, tick Critical if they didn't attend and it's a critical reason

  • Reason: The name of the reason
  • Sequence: In what order does this reason sit in the list that teachers can choose from
  • Colour: What colour the attendance reason will show
  • In attendance: If ticked, this will be a reason that shows the student was in attendance.
  • Critical (to be used for critical non attendance): If ticked, when used, the parent will receive a notification within a sort space of time notifying them that their student did not attend the lesson. Attendance 2.png

Once complete it will look something like the below:
