Add extra fee for student

What is this function?

If you need to invoice a student for something that is outside the course fee, you can add an extra fee for the student. The fee is individual, and you need to go to the specific student's profile to add it.

Why should I use this?

Examples of applications:

  • The student wants to buy a music book
  • The student must pay a reminder fee for not returning an instrument on hire. 

How do I do this?

Follow the steps highlighted below

  • Navigate to the students profile and select the ‘Charges’ tab.
  • Click on the ‘+Add manual charge’ button 

 

  • Add in all the information required in the box that pops up. 

-’Payer’

-’Ledger code’

-’Rate’

-’Upper charge category’

-’Line Text’

-’Amount’ and click ‘Add’

Now you can click the arrow next to the order number to see the fee you have added. 

You can also edit or remove the charge here too

When using the maximum tariff

Extra fees are not included when automatic discounts are calculated (such as sibling discounts or maximum rate limits). If you add an extra fee for a student, it will be added on top of the discounted amount. This means the student’s total fee may end up being higher than the maximum rate.
