How many participants can participate in a Live Video?
There is no real limit to the number of participants in a Live Video. However, in case a device has a poor internet connection, or simply does not have the required processing power, it will automatically try lowering the video quality.
Why is the video and audio breaking up?
Often this is caused by a bad internet connection. But it can just as well be a device not having sufficient processing power. In this case, the video quality should automatically decrease. But please have in mind that no system is perfect if the connection is very bad.
Also do not expect the same quality as you experience in video providers like Zoom, Teams and Skype. The live video feature in SpeedAdmin is based on the web standard called WebRTC supported by most browsers. SpeedAdmin relies on the automatic degrading of video quality handled by WebRTC when bandwidth and processing power is low.
- If on a computer, use cabled connection when available.
- If on a phone, try experimenting switching between Wi-Fi or mobile connection.
- When on a Wi-Fi connection or mobile connection, try different locations in the building. If possible, change the position of the Wi-Fi router. It should not be hidden inside cabinets or other closed compartments.
- If you are on a network shared with other people, ensure they do not take up all bandwidth by downloading large files, etc...
If you experience stuttering audio in Safari 14.0.1 and 14.0.2 on Mac and on iOS 14.2: This is a known issue. For Safari on Mac, the issue is expected to be resolved in version 14.0.3. Please use another browser like Chrome of Firefox. For iOS, please update to latest iOS 14.3. More info about the issue can be found here: Link
Why do I get a "Video format not supported" error?
One reason could be that you are on an iOS version lower than 12.2. When starting Live Video from an ensemble study, the participant devices are not able to negotiate a common video format, when more than two participants can join. In that case it defaults to a format not supported by older iOS versions. Please update iOS to version 12.2+ to solve this error.
When using the SpeedAdmin app on an iOS device, I must tap a button that opens up Live Video in the Safari browser. Why?
Up until iOS 14.3, video communication has not been able to run within a web view through the app. Ensure to update iOS on your device to version 14.3+ and you will not be presented with that button again.
Is the connection encrypted?
SpeedAdmin Live Video is based on WebRTC that ensures an encrypted connection.
