This article is designed for: Superusers/Admins
This article will teach you to create different user types in the system, creating profiles for fellow employees and admins, and creating usergroups with access rights and bespoke menus (Governance).
Where to start ?
When logging in to Speedadmin for the first time (we assume you have superuser/admin menu and rights), one of the first tasks is either validating data if you have data imported, or creating users (Superusers, teachers), since you will need these later on in the process when setting up Speedadmin.
Searching for & creating a superuser
To index registered superusers (users) go to "Search" -> "User" in the top menu bar.
This list gives you the overview of registered users (superusers) and you are able to access the data card by clicking the username.
Tip! - - To search a variety of user profiles and registered resources in Speedadmin try the "Super search" in the left hand side of your menu bar !
Creating a new superuser/admin
- Go to "Search" -> "User" in the top menu bar.
- Select "New user" on the top right side ->
- Fill out the required fields in the empty data card.
- Designate a username, set a temporary password and select the menu "Superuser"
- Select the "Type of user" as "User".
- Select "Create"
- Now the data card is created.
- Select "Settings" in the top menu and in the section "Teacher & User" select "Rights"
- In the rights menu select "Member" for the rights group "Superusers"
- In the members menu select the tab "User" and here select the user you have just created.
- Select "Insert".
Great! I created a superuser but now what... ?
- Send an email with login information to the superuser through Speedadmin... of course!
- Look up the freshly created superuser (Super search or search -> user)
- On the data card next to the email section select the letter icon
- This will open up the messaging service in Speedadmin and add the user as recipient.
- On the right side select the button
and select the template "Forgotten password e-mail"
- This is a standard Speedadmin template, so edit the text if needed but KEEP the merge field {logininformation} in the email. It generates the username, login link and the possibility to create a password for the recipient.
Tip! - - You can also search for recently viewed user profiles in Speedadmin by clicking the 'Recently visited' button on the bottom left of your screen
Searching for & creating a teacher
To index registered teachers go to "Search" -> "Teacher" in the top menu bar.
This list gives you the overview of registered teachers and you are able to access the data card by clicking the initials.
Creating a new teacher
- Go to "Search" -> "teacher" in the top menu bar.
- Select "New teacher" on the top right side ->
- Fill out the required fields in the empty data card.
- Designate a username, set a temporary password and select the menu "Teacher"
- The user type is as default set to "Teacher".
- Select "Create"
- Now the data card is created.
- A new teacher profile is automatically assigned to the default teacher rights group.
Sending out login for teachers
Same as for superuser!
- Look up the freshly created teacher (Super search or search -> teacher)
- On the data card next to the email section select the letter icon
- This will open up the messaging service in Speedadmin and add the teacher as recipient.
- On the right side select the button
and select the template "Forgotten password e-mail"
- This is a standard Speedadmin template, so edit the text if needed but KEEP the merge field {logininformation} in the email. It generates the username, login link and the possibility to create a password for the recipient.
Can I add students to Speedadmin manually as well ?
Yes, but have them register online if possible. Saves you from a lot of typing!
Searching for & creating a student
To index registered students go to "Search" -> "Student" in the top menu bar.
This list gives you the overview over registered students and you are able to access the data card by clicking the student id.
Creating a new student
- Don't forget to add the guardian if possible...
- Go to "Search" -> "student" in the top menu bar.
- Select "New student" on the top right side ->
- Fill out the required fields in the empty data card.
- Username is automatically designated and composes of first 3 letters of the name and first 3 letters of the surname.
- The user type is set to student as default by Speedadmin, menu and rights are set as default "Student" menu and rights group.
- Select "Create"
- Now the data card is created.
- If you have the information at hand you can add the guardian information in the "Parent/guardian" tab and designate the payer with the button "State payer" ->
in the "Parent/guardian" tab.
Sending out login for students (and guardians)
Be aware that sending out to a student as default includes guardians, watch the settings for the recipients! Giving access to students and guardians requires you to have your setup for students and guardians in place!
- Look up the freshly created student (Super search or search -> student)
- On the data card next to the email section select the letter icon
- This will open up the messaging service in Speedadmin and add the student as recipient.
- Please note the system as default includes all guardians stated for the student. You can filter this by selecting the button ->
and select the student only or other combinations.
If students and guardians are selected ALL will receive a login. Please consider how many need a login for Speedadmin and if you allow login for students or if you want to restrict this to only guardians! - On the right side select the button
and select the template "Forgotten password e-mail".
- This is a standard Speedadmin template, so edit the text if needed but KEEP the merge field {logininformation} in the email. It generates the username, a login link and the possibility to create a password for the recipient.
