This guide will show you how to set up your discount application so that students can apply for assigned discounts i.e. remissions, bursaries, financial assistance.
Creating a fiscal year (Settings > Fiscal year)
The fiscal year in SpeedAdmin refers to the years/dates that your discount applications run against. This is usually in line with the academic year. These dates need to have been set prior to setting up your discount application.
Top tip – some services have requested a local translation from ‘Fiscal year’ to ‘Discount year’ or similar, so if you can’t find ‘Fiscal year’ under your Settings, it may have already been translated!
Enter the name of the fiscal year e.g. 23/24, add the start and end dates, and click ‘Insert’ to save:
Setting up your discount application (Settings > Registration setup > Discount application)
If you allow your students to apply for a discount via your SpeedAdmin registration page, you will need to set up questions for them to answer in order to do this.
At the top of the ‘Discount application’ tab, there is a Yes/No switch – you may wish to set this to ‘No’ whilst you are setting up your application questions, but this will need to be switched to ‘Yes’ for the discount application functionality to work via your registration page:
- Enter your first question/resource field in ‘Field name’.
- Select the field type – take care with this as you will not be able to change the field type once this has been created.
- Confirm whether or not the question/resource field is a required field.
- Click ‘Insert’ to save:
- Repeat as required until all questions/resource fields are added.
- Select which registration field set to link your application to – this will be used to capture the student/guardian/question personal data:
Adding Terms & Conditions (Settings > Registration setup > Texts)
As part of the discount application process, your students/parents will need to accept your application T&Cs. If you have not already added your T&Cs for discount applications as part of your registration process, you will need to do so:
Adding the Discount application spot to your registration page (Settings > Registration setup > General > Test link)
Once you have set up your application, including completing your T&Cs, you need to add a ‘Discount application’ spot to your registration page.
If you need additional guidance in setting up your registration page, please see our Registration guide.
Your discount applications are now open and your parents/students can now apply via your registration page.
